Venue/Lodging
There are no hotels within walking distance of my house, but three within a couple of miles. Taking a quick look around the site, these are my reccommendations:
Homewood Suites by Hilton: Pricey ($153/night), but very nice, and a very easy drive to my house.
Hampton Inn Linden: Still Pricey ($103/night), but also very nice. Also an easy drive to my house.
Econo Lodge Newark International Airport: Well, it's cheaper ($65/night), but its a fairly ugly drive down 1&9 and sidestreets to my house.
Other Hotels
Feel free to browse the hotel sites for any hotel if you need one, we don't have exclusive deals or anything. |

Transportation
Parking is our biggest problem. While I have many sidestreets with free parking space, I'd like to warn anyone who's coming that you may have to park your car a block away or two.
Directions:
From the Garden State Parkway (either direction): Take exit 137 on the Parkway, which will end at a light on Westfield Avenue. Make a Left at the light, and proceed down Westfield Avenue about a mile (4 Lights from Pkwy N, 5 Lights from Pkwy S). Past the 4th light you will see a Ford Dealership on the right hand side; you’ll want to make a left when you pass it, there is a convenience store on my corner.
From Route 22: Follow Route 22 (from whichever direction) until you get to Union, then exit onto Michigan Avenue via Route 22 East. (there is a McDonalds on that corner, and a Hooters in the center). Follow Michigan Avenue (which turns into Faitoute Avenue) until it ends at Westfield Avenue. Make a right onto Westfield Avenue, then a quick right into the jughandle, and a left back onto Westfield Avenue (not over the bridge). Past the 4th light you will see a Ford Dealership on the right hand side; you’ll want to make a left when you pass it, there is a convenience store on my corner.
From 78 or the Turnpike: Head to Route 22 or the Parkway, its easy for both. |

Train Directions (NJ Transit)
Raritan Valley Line: My house is about a 7 block walk from the Roselle Park train station; if you give us notice, we'll gladly come pick you up however.
Northeast Corridor / New Jersey Coast Lines: The Elizabeth train station is about a mile from my house, and is on both of those lines. If you schedule it with me ahead of time I'll come get you from the train station.
From NYC or Beyond: If coming from the PATH, go to Penn Station Newark, then board a train to Roselle Park (its about a 15 minute ride). If coming from (or through) Penn Station New York, its best to just head to Elizabeth, as its 3 stops (about a 20 minute ride).
Note for those without transit: If you are coming in from out of town and are staying at one of the three hotels listed, I can pick you up before the con and drop you off after (but not between slots, so you're stuck at my house all day unless someone else gives you a ride). |
