4E Game Day Overview
4E Game Day
You
may be aware of
the new 4th Edition of Dungeons and Dragons, but have you gotten a
chance to
actually play the game yet? Here's your opportunity to play the
game and
see how the rules, characters, and challenges work in the heroic tier
as well
as meet other people who are interested in the game.
This
game day is open to the public and no experience is required. Just
show up!
The
game day is
sponsored by NARPGA, a non-profit group dedicated to increasing
role-playing
fun in the Atlanta
area. http://www.narpga.com/
There
is no event community for this event, but many interested persons could
be found on http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/atlrpga/
If you have questions about the game day, email Paige at scorpienne at
gmail dot com.
Adventures
There
will be three
adventures run on the game day. Each one is no more than 4 hours
long,
and there is a 1 hour break between each game. There
is
room for four tables of four to six players for each adventure.
The
9:00 am adventure is
for 1st level characters.
The 2:00 pm adventure is for 5th level
characters.
The 7:00 pm adventure
is
for 10th level characters.
The
adventures will be thematically linked, but it is not necessary to play
all
three of them. The adventures will be written by local authors
and take
place in the Nentir Vale, as described in the Dungeon Master's Guide.
Location
We
will be playing
in the administrative building behind the fire station on Webb Road.
This is just north of
the intersection of GA400 and Old Milton Parkway in Alpharetta, GA.
2970 Webb Bridge Road
Alpharetta, GA 30004
When
you pull into the fire station, drive past the main building and as far
back as you can go. When you run out of parking lot, you'll see a
sidewalk that leads into the administration building. Look for
the
signs. Please park in parking spaces that are not reserved for
emergency
vehicles.

Registration - Cost -
Payment
You
can register for the game day on this site. We can only
accomodate 24 people per adventure (four tables of four to six
characters per game). If you preregister, that will guarantee you
a seat if the game
day fills up. NARPGA is asking for a $5 preregistration fee
per person to play as many of the adventures as you want to play.
Preferred payment is by Pay Pal. If you need to pay by check or
money order, then contact Paige at scorpienne at gmail dot com. If you
show up at the game day, you can pay by cash or check.
Click
"register to attend" at the top of this page to register.
Click
"pricing and payment" at the top of this page to pay.
Characters
Pregenerated
characters will be available for all three adventures. They are
subject to change, but will probably include the following.
Dwarf Cleric, Elf Ranger, Halfling Rogue, Tiefling Wizard, Dragonborn
Paladin, Eladrin Warlord, Human Fighter, Human Warlock
The pregens are 1st, 5th, and 10th level versions of these characters.
You can
make your
own character if you want to, using the following guidelines:
Use the Standard Array of ability scores (Player's Handbook, pages
17-18) for your character.
Races and classes in the Players Handbook are legal. Be sure to go
through the updates to the PHB that alter some of the classes, powers,
and feats. http://www.wizards.com/dnd/files/UpdatePH.pdf
Character alignments must be unaligned, good, or lawful good.
You get one magic item of your level + 1, one of your level, and one of
your level – 1. You also get gold equal to a magic item of your level –
1.
First level characters get a 1st level magic item and a 2nd level magic
item and 100 gp.
Fifth level characters get one 4th level magic item, one 5th level
magic item, and one 6th level magic item, and gold = to a 4th level
magic item (840 gp).
Tenth level characters get one 9th level magic item, one 10th level
magic item, and one 11th level magic item, and gold = to a 9th level
magic item (4,200 gp).
You can use your GP to buy mundane equipment, magic items, potions,
rituals, and/or ritual components.
RPGA Player Rewards Cards are completely legal and welcome! 1st
and 5th level characters can use 2 cards, 10th level characters can use
3 cards. Origin cards are legal (and will allow you to play some
non-PHB races - that's fine). If you have no idea what RPGA
Player Rewards Cards are, then don't worry about it, and you'll see 'em
at the game day, and you can sign up for them there.
Fine
Print - Blah, Blah, Blah...
You will have to pay
your registration fee before you sign up for games. No refunds will be
given for people who
cancel, withdraw, or fail to show up at the game day after registration
closes.
The coordinator does
not
guarantee walk-ups or people who register after registration is closed
the
opportunity to play. If there are open seats, they will preferentially
go to
preregistered players first. Preregistration is strongly encouraged for
this game day.
Registration
will probably close one or days weeks before the game day.
The coordinator does
not
guarantee premustered groups the opportunity to play together. Players
will
have the opportunity to muster themselves. If they cannot, then the
coordinator or her representatives will muster the players. Be
open to the possibility that you will play with some interesting new
people.
For better party
makeup, each table should have at least one leader and one
striker. If you have no idea what that means then don't worry
about it,
and we'll take care of that on game day!
